Wireless Label Printing
Print a parts label from the scanner in your hand to a Zebra printer on your network — no cable, no docking, no walking back to the counter
How It Works
Three steps, set once per scanner.
1. Put the printer on your network
The printer needs its own IP address on the same network as the scanners.
2. Enter the IP once
On the scanner, open Settings → External Devices, enter the Printer IP Address and tap Test Connection. It reports Reachable or Unreachable before you need a label.
3. Pick your label size
Set the loaded label size and print. Supported: 2×2, 3×2, 4×2, 4×3 and 4×6 inch.
Which Zebra Printers Work
The connection is over the network, so what matters is whether the printer has a network radio and an IP address.

About the QL420
If you already have QL420s with the wireless option, they can print from the scanner and there is no reason to replace them. But do not buy one to get started: Zebra's last sale date for the QL420 Plus was 22 November 2013 and service and support ended 22 February 2017, with the ZQ511/ZQ521 as the replacement. Units without the 802.11 option — serial, USB or Bluetooth only — will not work, because the scanner connects over the network.

The printer is on the network, so every scanner can point at it. No pairing per device.
Know before you print
Test Connection tells you the printer is reachable up front, rather than finding out when a label does not appear.
